Jack hammered on the door to the terraced house and decided that if the idiot wasn't going to respond in another ten minutes, he was going to kick down the door and get in that way. Some small distant part of him was murmuring 'anger management' very quietly, but he was past caring. A man had his limits and after the kind of day he'd had, those limits were far in the distance and heavily trampled.

Summary: Ianto and Tosh acquire a shared hobby.
The leaflet was on her computer keyboard when she came in that morning. It was for one of the Further Education colleges that ran evening courses and the one for Pottery had been highlighted. After she had settled in her chair and started her computer, Tosh picked it up again curiously. It hadn’t been there last night when she had left, and she had been here after Gwen and Owen, so it had to have been put there by either Jack or Ianto. Neither of them struck her as being the type to suggest that she enrol in a pottery class, unless maybe it was for some kind of undercover mission. She was almost tempted to think that it was a joke, but that seemed highly unlikely so soon after Mary.

Pairing: Andy and Ianto friendship
Rating: Open
Spoilers: General, for series
Disclaimer: Not mine; they belong to the BBC.
Summary: Andy meets all kinds of people in his job
Andy Davidson liked people. It had taken him a while to realise it, since quite a few people seriously pissed him off, but after a year as a policeman it had come as something of a revelation to realise that, by and large, he thought the human race was not too shoddy a piece of work on the part of the Almighty. True, the basic design needed a bit of tweaking, and some of the models could do with a thorough overhaul, but Andy figured that things could be a lot worse. He saw a lot of shit in his job, and sometimes wondered just how one human being could do some of the stuff he had seen to another human being or animal, but there was always something, some small gesture or act, that at the end of the day restored his faith in the whole sorry mess and made it possible to face another day, with all its challenges.

redismycolour.
Summary: Ianto enjoys his rituals.
Out from the silent portal of the hours,
When frosts are come and all the hosts put on.
Their burnished gear to march across the night
And o'er a darkened earth in splendor shine,
Slowly above the world Orion wheels
His glittering square, while on the shadowy hill
And throbbing like a sea-light through the dusk,
Great Sirius rises in his flashing blue.
-- Bliss Carman
The Winter Scene - Part II
Ianto Jones had a fondness for ritual. Given the often chaotic state of his everyday life, he tended to hold on tight to certain benchmarks he had established within his life. He was realist enough to know that the Universe was far too large and complicated to recognize and honour the little habits that he liked to indulge in, but whenever it was possible, Ianto liked to do certain things in certain ways at certain times. Just as he had grown up with the cast-iron certainty of Sunday dinner and Christmas morning, so Ianto snatched something of life out of the jaws of Torchwood when the beast wasn’t looking.

Characters: Jack, Estelle Cole
Rating: Open
Spoilers: None, unless you wish to remain ignorant of Estelle and her place in Jack's life. Set pre-series.
Disclaimer: Not mine; they belong to RTD and the BBC.
Summary: Jack wonders if perhaps you can sometimes recapture at least part of the past.
But I was in search of love in those days, and I went full of curiousity and the faint, unrecognized apprehension that here, at last, I should find that low door in the wall, which others, I knew, had found before me, which opened on an enclosed and enchanted garden, which was somewhere, not overlooked by any window, in the heart of that grey city.
- Evelyn Waugh,
Brideshead Revisited
He knew this was a mistake. He also knew that it was one he was going to make, no matter how much he went over all the reasons why he shouldn't. It had been so long, and a large part of himself was afraid of what he would find when he finally knocked on that door, but he couldn't keep away. Not now that he knew. In a way he was angry that he had seen that poster while he had been out with Dominic, since he had completely ignorant up until then. Once he knew, however, the idea that had immediately sprung into life just wouldn't go away and he had had no peace from himself.

Right. Now this is my biggest and most complicated AU. And how! *rolls eyes* It's also the one that has evolved the most as the two series have progressed and (hopefully!) I have become a better writer of Torchwood. So stuff is all over the place and some things don't quite fit any more and stuff that didn't fit any more sort of does fit now and even I have problems working out which story belongs and which doesn't.
So in an effort to keep my head straight and to cut down the use of aspirins amongst those of you who are kind enough (or masochistic enough!) to try and keep up with me, I will be posting (drum roll, please!) a Masterlist! Yes!! I'll give you time to grope for your smelling salts and take a few sips of 'cordial'....
It will be up in the next few minutes. Now it isn't comprehensive and 98% of the stories aren't written yet, but they will, they will. I'll even try and write them in chronological order (although I wouldn't hold my breath on that one!).
